no merit aid for transfers?

i'm a freshman, current school isn't for me and id like to transfer next fall... one problem.. i'm here on a full ride; i dont expect any other school to come close to matching that, but i won't be able to transfer if i have to pay full tuition and room/board...

so are there any schools you guys know of that offer some sort of merit aid for transfer students?????

i really like UT austin, but their website gives no concrete information on available scholarships for transfers (or their amounts). Other schools in the south are fine too. I'm from new orleans and would like to be semi-close to home.

thanks.

(by the way, this just shows that attending a school solely based on a financial package is a bad idea --- for all of you graduating seniors out there)

Unfortunately there isn't much merit aid for transfers, however here's a thread with some info:

I was in the same situation as you a couple weeks ago, but I've started to like it where I am.

I'd encourage you to at least talk to some people. I got in contact with a dean and he offered to do anything possible to help me out. I realized that I wouldn't have that sort of opportunity if I transferred to a school where I was one of the masses.

Anyway I know that what worked for me might not work for you, but just try to stay positive about your decision even if you do transfer knowing that it was a worthwhile experience to give it a try.
