No news from Andover means?

Thanks for sharing the information all the times! By the way, we have no news from Andover until now. I think this means rejection or waitlist. Does anybody know how soon we could receive any news? We're in Mid-west. Thanks and Congratulation for all those got accepted1

Waitlist/Rejection. I got waitlisted at exeter, and I am probably waitlisted at andover too… sooooo, I have no idea what my chances are now. I will call them on the 15 and ask about my position on the waitlists. =(

We’re midwest. The waitlist letter from Andover took two days. So did acceptance packages for two other schools that don’t post decisions via email.

So our time line was rejection by email on March 10th. Lots of trying not to cry. Then March 11th came and went with no news at all (the cruelest time of all) followed by the remaining packets and the letter confirmations of rejections on March 12th. We had to read the Andover letter twice to understand that it was a waitlist because we almost dismissed the skinny envelope as a rejection.

Hope the news is hopeful.

I called fedex and gave them the two addresses and they told me that nothing was coming today… and I live in MA. The worst part is that I don’t think I put all of my EC’s on my application. =(

What are the chances of getting off the waitlist for exeter or andover? When would I most likely find out if I was taken off?

I live in NY and not a peep from PA or DA. It’s kind of making me angry; I thought everything was supposed to be settled on 3/10, NOT 3/12!!

no news is good news!

We still have not heard from Andover…
mail already came today.
Waitlisted Exeter- (multigeneration legacy!)
Accepted Choate

Hey guys, I’m from Washington State and I haven’t received ANYTHING from any of the schools I applied to (Phillips Andover, Phillips Exeter, Deerfield, Lawrenceville, and SPS). Could it be that it just takes time for mail to get to me cuz I live across the country? I don’t know, but I’m really worried right now. Although, I did check online and I got accepted into Lawrenceville and rejected to Exeter and SPS. But what about Deerfield and Andover? I’m so confused!!!

alice97 - Deerfield will get there when it gets there. Their decisions are just sent out regular mail, so yours may take a few days to get to you. No way to know if it’s good news or bad news 'til it gets there!

For Andover, on the other hand, no news is generally bad news. Their acceptance are sent FedEx with a March 10 delivery date. If you didn’t get anything, then you’re likely waiting for a waitlist or a denial, both of which would come by regular mail. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news . . .

Congrats on L’Ville - that’s a great school!

I haven’t heard from PA or DA, either. (I don’t think the no news is good news rule applies to Andover, though.) I’m hoping to hear from DA soon.

I live in GA. I still have that tiny sliver of hope saying the PA package was delayed, but I’m pretty sure I either got WLed or rejected. However, I did get accepted to Groton, Milton, and I’m still waiting for DA, so I’m satisfied.

In Midwest, we still have no news from Andover. Hope to hear at least waitlist news. Good luck to those who are on waitlist and who are still waiting for the news.

Still haven’t heard from Andover.

I live in California and haven’t gotten anything from Andover…does this mean i was waitlisted/rejected?

Come on, guys, gals. Please be realistic. Andover sends acceptance notices by Federal Express overnight delivery to arrive on the 10th. If there’s a problem it might arrive on the 11th. But if you have not heard from Andover by now, your letter is in the regular mail and it’s a denial or a waitlist. If you have received no mail by Tuesday, then call them and inquire.

Asking the question over and over again isn’t going to make the answer change.

Guys please don’t kill the messenger here, but I recieved my Deerfield acceptance letter yesterday and I live in California. Might be bad news, or maybe I’m wrong.

Exie: Kinda harsh…and you don’t know that for sure they are WL or rejected! Don’t be a debbie downer, when they get the news, they’ll find out if they were accepted/rejected/waitlisted.

Imagine if you had gone through the admission process to have someone who is unaware of your situation tell you that there is no chance that you got into the school you want to go to. Even if this was the case, wouldn’t you want to find out by yourself, not from a stranger?

No news until this morning. I know it will be reject or waitlist but has to be something rather than nothing.

deefieldhungry and browneyedgirl8 -

Deerfield and Andover do not send out their decision letters the same way. Deerfield uses regular mail - and when you get it has absolutely nothing to do with whether its an acceptance or a denial.

Andover, on the other hand, uses FedEx overnight delivery for its offers of admission, and regular mail for everything else. So, except in the very unusual case, if a candidate hasn’t heard by the 10th, he or she is not going to be getting good news from Andover. It may not be an ideal system of notification, but that’s what it is. And wanting it to be otherwise just isn’t going to change things.

mijiking: no news from Andover neither so far.
