no notification from smu?

hi yall,
i submitted my application around the end of oct. i emailed the admission office several times to find out if my application is complete. i haven't heard anything back still. have yall received any notification from smu telling you that your application is complete or still missing some materials? should i be worrried? thanks!!!!

D got a a postcard in the mail yesterday saying her app was complete and ready for consideration and she would hear from them soon.

We were starting to wonder about them. She has been bombarded with mail/email from everyone except SMU!

My son got an email with a link to a check his application status. The link was personalized, so that it opened up to a page meant for him – with no login required. I don’t know if he got a postcard or not.

I don’t think you should be worried. I think my son applied 2-3 weeks before the email arrived.

Good luck!

Yeah I didn’t get an email but I got the postcard about a week and a half after applying and when I had my interview the admissions lady had read my app and knew a lot about it, I was impressed.

WOW that is impressive. My son received a postcard but hasn’t received anything electronically from them. I’m with Faffy – they are the only that is still not sending him materials, an electronic way to check the status of his app, etc. They have given us so much personalized attention – it’s kind of odd that it’s been so quiet in the month of November from them. Especially when competing schools like TCU, U Miami, USC, etc are marketing like crazy…

Really? So nobody else got the email titled “Your SMU Application Status?” It has a personalized link in it, and when he clicks on the link, it lists everything they’ve received. It’s from undergraduate admissions. Nobody else got this? That’s weird.

My son did.

My daughter did too.

Sounds like my son should call admissions. He got a postcard, but that’s all I’ve seen.

Weird. I got a postcard AND a letter saying they got all of my stuff (same day too haha) but no email.

Just an FYI, SMU counselors have been really slow about answering emails. (At least for me and my classmates) Quickest option would be to call.

^But Rice, if your son got the postcard saying his appliction was complete and ready for review, he probablyl doesn’t need to call admissions. The email my son got does have a list on it, but its purpose was to say the same thing the postcard said … that the application is complete and ready for review. I think your son’s probably already in good shape. There’s no added value in the email, I don’t think.

He definitely did not receive an email with an “Check your admissions status here” though. He got that from TCU but not SMU. I called SMU Admssions today. They said all admission decisions will come SNAIL MAIL. Nothing is electronic.

^No, Rice … not “admissions status.” “APPLICATION status.”
That’s why I was saying there was no need to call admissions … your son was already informed of his application status, via other means.

Just so you guys know we’ve received about twice as many applications this year as last and our counselors have been swamped reading applications. If your application wasn’t complete you would have received a call or gotten an email. EA acceptance letters were mailed this week!
