Yale or Georgetown. We finally had a Stanford admit this year. It seems like once one student breaks ground, a few others follow.

atleast not in the past 5 years…

stanford, georgetown, princeton, brown are the most significant

but we have had harvard, mit, yale, columbia ucla etc.

My school has not found that to be true, but probably because so few students even apply, that you can’t really make that observation. We’ve had acceptances to Harvard and Columbia, but in later years people applied, but no one got in.

And of course, you can easily find schools where no one has ever been accepted to any of the schools in the top twenty-five.

Our school has lots of kids applying to top schools and many are being admitted. Naviance gives us all the totals, but I think it’s just from the last 6 years or so.

haven’t had a kid go to Stanford or Harvard in probably over 20 years… one princeton and one yale from what I can remember. But, then again, my hs is pretty crappy

No one from my high school has ever been accepted at…
-Stanford
-MIT/Caltech
-Amherst, Swarthmore, Wesleyan, etc.
-probably any top school you can think of
-Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Dartmouth, Penn (we DID have a Brown admit ~15 years ago and a Cornell admit ~7 years ago)
-UChicago, Duke, Georgetown, etc., etc.

:D

It’s not like we get a ton of rejections, just that people don’t really take college applications that seriously. People generally just kind of apply to the places around here and don’t give it much thought…like I talked about possibly visiting WashU the other day and everyone’s like “what’s that?”

I actually just got the master list of applications and acceptances for this year’s seniors, and basically everyone applied to the same 10 or so schools within a four hour radius. We did have one girl apply to Brown and Brynn Mawr, and another to Cornell, and a guy to Washington and Lee, but that was it. I know the guy’s going to W&L. Not sure how the two girls fared.

Caltech, I think…

Very important in these discussions to separate Athletic Dept. admits from General Admits. About half of the HYP admits from our high school, with is about 1 to each every other year, has been through the Athletic Dept. pull.

Dartmouth,
rarely Princeton or MIT or Princeton, happens like every four years.

We’re blacklisted from Harvard. We also seem to never get kids into Dartmouth or Caltech. But we do get Cornells, Columbias, Browns, Princetons, Yales, UPenns, Johns Hopkinses, Northwesterns, Stanfords, etc.

MIT
10char

Peking University.

I can’t think of any school that we haven’t had an acceptance to in the past few years. My school is quite competitive

I was the first one ever accepted to Penn wooh!

are you being serious or is it just very rare that kids get in from your school?

Name a top 20 college, and everyone in our school has been accepted there.

Name a top 20 SUNY and everyone in our school has been accepted there.

Other than that, only Cornell gets a regular infusion of kids from our small upstate NY public.

Name a top 20 school (besides WUSTL, and HYP), and I would be willing to bet that most kids at my school don’t even know what it is.

we are the third graduating class. still no Harvard or Stanford. we have had yale mit and princeton

University of Nebraska
