okay, so, I applied to this college last year and I would like to try transferring here. Could I send them the same application with the same essays or would I have to write a new one. Will they think that I'm too insincere or will they not even remember my essay since they look at like thousands of essays a day?

usually the essay promps for freshman and transfer applicants are different.

write new essays!!!

definently write new ones.

They will not remember your old essays. My S looked back at his old essays and felt they just weren't good enough. If you weren't accepted, go with new and improved.

If you were accepted, you still might want new. Some prompts are likely to be different, as stated above.

If it's not a very selective college, it might not matter one way or the other. If it's very selective, improve as many aspects of your app as you can.

Ahh! I applied to Vanderbilt the first time around and got waistlisted (aka heartbroken). When I talked to an admission counselor about applying for transfer, the first thing she said was "Write new essays!" The reason for this is two-fold. #1, she said that they would pull my old application to compare if I indicated that I had previously applied on my app. #2, she said that, for a transfer applicant, they're looking to see how you've grown during your time in college and what you've learned about youself, etc, in this time of discovery.

So, rewrite!!
