No Physics/Chem subject test for engineering?

Somehow I forgot to check the testing requirements for the engineering school and only took the Math II and the Biology subject tests. I did have some extenuating circumstances - while I was taking dual-enrollment physics my junior year, my teacher became sick and our class was left with a sub who didn't teach us much for about 2 months. I did not put this in the additional info section of the common app because I didn't know about the requirement :| I realize that the website says you "must" have taken either Physics or Chem...however, does this mean that my application won't even get considered?

I don’t think it will. I could be wrong, but I think colleges are really strict about the requirements. Also, a lot of kids take the subject tests and even AP exams without a formal teacher, and I’m sure many of them are applying to Columbia and other similar level schools, so I doubt Columbia will consider that a valid excuse.

Would it be too late to take the test then?

You could register late for this month’s subject test(Columbia will take your January scores if they get there on time). I don’t know if the window is still open but check collegeboard.

I just called the admissions office and they said that I can switch over my application from engineering to the college. I had put down computer science as my intended major in the first place, and it appears that there is also a computer science major in the college. I now have to rewrite my supplement essay for the engineering school (which was about computers and my love for programming) so that I can apply to the college. As a computer science major. This rewrite is going to be difficult :)

Columbia admissions person emailed me and said that jan28 test date for subject tests was still ok. You may be able to do walk in if registering is not an option anymore.
