No Physics=Dealbreaker?

I'm a current junior forecasting for my senior classes next year. This year I took APES, and obviously need an AP science class for next year. I have already taken honors/advanced chemistry and biology as an underclassmen. My dilemma is that the colleges I am interested in (HYP, Stanford, etc.) suggest taking chem, bio, and physics, but at my school AP Physics is an extremely difficult class relegated to kids in the engineering school, while basic physics is taught by a complete moron of a teacher. I've elected to take AP Bio, but am second guessing myself. I don't want to take Physics just so it will be on my transcript, if I won't actually learn something from it/will die from the intensity.
Long story short, should I find a way to take physics? Anyone know if not taking it is a dealbreaker for the schools I'm looking into?

I had the same problem last year too. At our school, you just need to take a class with a mixture of physics/chem/bio/earth science and biology to graduate. I took that first class, honors bio, and honors chem. I hate science so I decided not to take physics this year because it’s REALLY hard at our school. Kids are complaining about it all the time, and it’s not weighted.

It shouldn’t hurt me in college admissions because instead of physics, I took another worthwhile class. I’m not going into math/science though, so it may be different for you.

I don’t think so. Taking a few AP science courses in general should be enough for those schools (especially if you don’t intend to major in something math/science-related).

I’m actually interested in majoring in Environmental Studies or something of that nature, which is obviously science related, but since I’ve taken AP Environmental Science successfully, as well as chem, regular bio, and projected AP Bio, I think I should be fine since my school does not offer AP Chem and the Physics classes are VERY questionable, since the interest is low and very few people are qualified/knowledgeable enough to teach it.

I’d definitely recommend taking AP Biology then (the two somewhat overlap).

I’m planning to double major in Economics and Environmental Science in college. I took Honors Bio in 9th grade, and I’m currently taking Honors Chem and AP Bio right now. Next year, I’m planning to take APES and Senior year, AP Chem. I won’t be taking any Physics at all (No Honors, No AP), and most people tell me that this is fine for HYPSM schools.

And like the above said, you should definitely at least take AP Bio.
