<p>I read the entire letter. It just seems like based on observations there’s a severe decrease with regards to chances of getting a Dean’s scholarship.</p>
<p>USC offers a significant number of merit awards & if you look at their website, you will note that quite a few of their students receive these, so don’t despair. As was posted, only Trustee and Presidential scholars are notified early on. USC also can be quite generous with FAid, which has helped many I know attend.</p>

I am a Dean’s scholar (class of 2014). I got the letter along with the other scholarship recipients at the end of January. I don’t know if they changed the policy this year, but it would seem that early notification is not limited to trustee and presidential.</p>
