...is unacceptable.

So...
who is fired up for September 14!?
I know I am!!

did anyone else get an email about final transcripts? im hoping its a mass mailing…

I did not get an email about final transcripts. My school sent them out on graduation day!

and yeaaah!! SEPTEMBER 14TH!!! woohoo!!

No, we did not get a mailing about final transcript - just a card from NU today about Wildcat Welcome and tickets to the game. But, I know our counselor sent his final transcript the week following graduation the end of May. Might want to check with the counselor at your high school?

crap! thanks for the quick responses tbone and smarty

@freightrain, I got the email too, but my school supposedly sent all the transcripts out in the second/third week of june… My school is in china though so maybe it’s just the international mailing <_< hope they get it!
do they send any confirmation email or anything when they do get the transcripts?

I got an email. But mine has already been sent (and confirmed). My guess it that it was a mass email.

Who’s doing Pre-WWW? I am not (feeling left out) because of travels.

Glenny, I’m not either haha it’s okay Im pretty sure most people aren’t. Oh and if u have a look at the first couple of posts, some people didn’t get the email

Did anybody else receive an email informing that they’ve been enrolled in a placement exam? I didn’t sign up for any placement exams but the email said I’ve been enrolled in chemisty…however I already have a 5 in AP chem… Could this be a mistake?

I have a 5 in AP Chem and received that email too. I think it’s because if you plan on taking the AP credit for the General Chem sequence (Chem 101, 102, and 103) and enrolling in the Organic Chem sequence (Chem 210), you’re required to take the ALEKS chemistry assessment; however, the website says that the assessment won’t be available until August, so I’m not exactly sure why we were sent the email now…

Yeah I thought it could have been the ALEKS test too but it’s a bit early for that isn’t it? lol. There’s no information about it on blackboard o_O

The email specifically said “Chemistry Placement Exam - 2010”, and apparently normal placement exams are available starting July 15. It makes more sense that this is the regular placement exam and not ALEKS

I haven’t taken chemistry since tenth grade because I moved onto Honors and AP Physics, and I got this email as well. I am not in a major that requires any chemisty courses - am I required to take this placement exam? Excuse me, I’m just a bit confused about the nature of our placement tests.

Im not going to take the chem placement if i don’t have to. I got a 4 on AP Chem and Ill just take chem 171. I do have to take ALEKs exam. I hope Im understanding this correctly.

I checked Blackboard again (by clicking on the link in the email), and now it doesn’t have “Chemistry Placement Exam - 2010” listed under enrolled courses anymore…Hmmm

So the ALEKS exam and the Chemistry Placement Exam are two different things?

Yeah I think so. EVERYONE needs to take ALEKS but Chemistry Placement Exam is optional, or it should be according to the website.

I’m not sure that’s correct. Do you mean all the freshman students or only those taking chemistry? No matter.

“All freshman chemistry students, even those planning to start with organic chemistry, must take the ALEKS chemistry assessment exam before beginning the fall quarter course. Students planning to enroll in General Chemistry or Accelerated General Chemistry, must also take the ALEKS assessment of basic math skills in order to register.”

That was taken right off the website. I think if you plan on enrolling in any chemistry courses then you must take the ALEKS test. The placement test is optional, but if you want to skip the basic courses and didn’t take AP Chem or didn’t do well enough on the test then you can take the placement test. But then you still must do the ALEKS exam regardless. I think that’s it…seems a bit wacky.

I have another question~ haha. When we’re choosing our courses, are we allowed to take only 1 or 2 courses from a sequence? Are we allowed to break up the sequence like that?
