No PSAT

I’m a current junior this year, and at the beginning of the year I just completely forgot to sign up for the PSAT. I’m normally very good about my standardized testing, and I took it sophomore year, but it must’ve just completely slipped my mind at the time.

Anyways, I took the SAT a couple times and I ended up scoring very well (2350+), and now I’m just wondering how important the PSAT is, if at all? I’ve been getting mixed answers, and most say it’s only important for potential NMSF scholarship money, but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks!

That’s mostly the purpose of the PSAT, to prepare you for the SAT as well as select Natl. Merit Scholar candidates.

PSAT is required at my school, I guess not all schools are like that. If you got that high of a SAT score then you should be fine. The PSAT just indicates what you should get on the SAT.

You’re correct, the only purpose for taking the PSAT junior year is to qualify for National Merit, so you didn’t miss too much.
