<p>I always use 'a lot'. In fact, my English teacher said that that was the correct way of spelling it.</p>
<p>"A lot" is correct, but it's pretty informal, so I never use it in writing assignments or speech competitions. Or when I'm being pretentious.</p>
<p>I never use it for writing assignments either. I only use it when I'm talking to family or friends.</p>
<p>I need to stop using the word "shows" in essays; 30x/essay is too many. I need a vocabulary expansion pack upgrade soon, and will get it as quickly as possible.</p>
<p>oh my goodness, haha. my birthday is may 19th as well! i'm so looking foward to it, getting my license on the 20th (i could've gotten it in january... oh well.)</p>
<p>I could have gotten my license as early as June of last year but have chosen not to undertake driving lessons and as such will not recieve a license until the end of next year.</p>

<p>All sophomores take Driver's Ed second marking period instead of gym at my school. And the two teachers have their own driving school, so a bunch of people do their six hours of behind-the-wheel practice with a driving instructor (required in NJ for your permit) with them. Then they get their permit more than six months before their seventh birthday. Then they get their provisional licenses when they turn 17 (tomorrow for me!!), and then they get their full licenses one year later.</p>
