no recommendations and transcripts?

i saw this on the ucla website:

"UCLA does not usually want letters of recommendation or transcripts for the admission selection process (i.e., before you receive a decision). (Our review is based on self-reported information provided on the UC Application form.) In the event that we would need anything like this from you during our selection process, we would request them from you specifically."

so, basically u don't give them ur trasncript until after ur accepted, and they don't take recommendations??

Yeah that's true about recommendations, the UCs were the only schools I applied to that didn't need them. And now that I think about it I don't think I had my transcript sent there either. But they do check later to make sure that your information is correct, and if you screwed with them (didn't take classes you said you took, put higher grades then you really got) then I think they'll cancel your admission.

thanks. what about sat scores? i still have to contact the college board to get my scores sent with my app, right? or do i only send them if i get accepted?

trust me...you do NOT want to lie about anything on UC application. If you get caught, it gets bad.

what!? who said anything about lying?

You don't have to send your SAT scores along woth the app. You have until late December to send them in. It just has to be received by early January.

uhh transcripts have to be received before July 15. it says it on the freshman checklist. this includes any community college transcripts that u listed on ur app, or courses u wish to transfer over for credit. anyone correct me if im wrong.

Correct, UCs do not want recommendations. But they do want your SAT scores (both self-report and from the CB) and they tell you the deadline for the latest SAT date they will accept. After you apply, you can check the UC website and see if CB sent your scores. You also list your HS courses and grades on your application. If you are accepted, only then they will want your high school transcript. And yes, your official grades and SAT scores had better match what you reported them to be.
