Okay, so here's the story. I applied to MIT through a scholarship known as QuestBridge. Essentially, MIT just takes the QuestBridge application essays and looks at those, MIT doesn't require any additional information/essay/etc. Seeing as how MIT is my dream school, didn't believe that my QuestBridge application completely reflected my desire to go to MIT. The thing is, I couldn't add additional information to my MyMIT application because the Part 1 and Part 2 were already put down as "submitted" due to QuestBridge. Looking through my FAQ section, I found that it was okay to email MIT admissions with additional information if you're in a unique situation; simply, email them with the attached information, your name, and birthday. I sent an email to MIT asking if this would apply to QuestBridge applications, but I didn't receive a response. So, I figured, why the hell not? I sent them a second email with my additional essay, name, and birthday. Still, I didn't get a response... I figured it was Sandy torturing the people of MA at the time.... but now I'm getting really worried...

MIT admissions is closed until Monday morning, which could be part of it. Though it sounds like you sent it a while ago. I’d guess that they got it, but that they might not have the time to respond to everyone?

Yes. I sent it before the EA deadline.

:/ That’s what I’m hoping. I mean, there’s no way of checking to see if they got it off the checklist on MyMIT.

You may wish to send a follow-up sometime next week to see whether they received your original email. Or, even better, call the office and ask. It can’t hurt.

Personally, I would call – the admissions office gets a huge volume of email every day, and things do sometimes fall through the cracks.

It’s likely that your original email with the attached information was successfully matched to your application, and that all is well, but if you want to be sure, the best way to go about that is to call during business hours.

I received a reply for an email I’d sent about two and a half weeks ago. My question was answered on the blog, though, so I’d suggest you either call or post a comment on one of Matt’s threads.

Admissions will email you back for emailed entries, so you may wish to resend or call.

General consensus is to phone. I’ll call when the offices reopen on Monday. Thank you for all your advice, I’ll update and let you guys know my situation. (:
