No response from coach?

Just to give some perspective…my kid is a recruit level player.
High level travel club, state and regional stats, and high grades/test scores.
We made a sport resume with highlight films with stats.
Sport resume = school application. If not, then you are not being serious.
Key point: You need to prove that you are good enough to jump in
today and help the team win. Be honest where you are at. Not tomorrow.

When we went to a open house, the coach’s varsity players were looking out
and bring to the coach. The coach usually did a quick “pre-read” like what school,
grades, test scores, classes, etc. Then, they talked about the sport. Coach
will let you know what they need for next year and where you can fit in.
If they are not interested, they will let you know right there. I saw a coach
do this to another player before we talked to the coach.

Then, couple varsity players do a private tour of the facility and try
to figure out if you can fit into the team or if you are really interested.
They really sell the program hard.

If they are really interested, the coach and AD get involved and let you
know if they want you to apply. You are on their list. Yes, there is a list.
Then, you wait for the admission’s sausage making magic.

Another perspective - my son had a similar experience with a HADES coach but, in retrospect, I don’t think the lack of response had anything to do with his desirability as an athlete. I think the coach was clueless in regards to email and may not have even seen my son’s note. I say this because later in the admissions process my son received multiple mass emails from this coach and the email addresses of all applicants were fully visible (i.e. not bcc’d).

Trust me - coaches will respond to game video recorded on an iphone tagged with your SSAT. Send it to the position coach and cc the head coach and recruiter for your state. Send the email when it ISN’T admissions reading period.

I created and edited a highlight reel with game footage on my iphone that I sent directly to coaches at the beginning of the school year. All of them responded and directed me to admissions to begin the process. Again, timing is important. I am not sure if I would have had the same level of responses if I had sent it in January, December or even November.
