I was audited by the UC verification/audit thing, and I sent them all the documents the same day they first emailed me. They sent me another reminder and said if you already sent the documents, don't worry. Still, I emailed them again if they received my documents by email.

Both times, I have gotten no response. Anyone else get a response?

The reminder goes to everyone, so you are not singled out. Last year students received confirmation in the mail about a week after the documents were submitted online. If you haven’t heard back and are concerned, call the phone number listed on your audit request.

I can’t tell if they can’t read english or what. I told them, email my teacher and ask her for proof. Then I provided pictures of the place I received the award. I told them to forward these pictures, if they choose, to my teacher to jog her memory.

Their response? Your picture isn’t of the award, so we can’t accept the pictures.

…but I never said I am sending pictures of the award… I even checked the box saying I do not have the award with me…

I CLEARLY told them to email my teacher to ask her. My pictures were not the proof. It’s like they just ignored everything I said and just saw the pictures.

Quote of their email: “We are pleased to confirm that we have received some form of verification documents from you however, we are unable to accept the verification you provided. We received some photos of which do not prove your honors and awards from Tohoku University”

Dude that sucks to hear. If I were you I would call them immediately and clearly state that you told them to contact the teacher and made it clear that you knew it wasn’t of the award. Best of luck to you.

Thanks man. Well they said “We will send you an update in regards to your application status within 24-48 business hours.” so I guess I’ll wait 2 days and see, then call

Well that makes sense. Why would you send them a random picture that isnt proof? And why would you tell them to email your prof, you should have contacted them directly and asked them to forward a letter (like a LOR), signed, directly to the school.

Yeah, I’m not sure why you’d assume the burden would be on them to gather suitable proof from your old teacher.

“So yeah I receive first place in Amateur Garrote during the 2006 Youth Grand Prix at Hokkaido Institute for Ninjas; my old sensei is probably dead but you can send a letter (he doesn’t own a computer) to this address which may have been razed to make room for a Honda factory kthx”

I don’t see the need for satire. The point of the pictures was to show them that the event actually took place (where the awards were given out), and they could simply email my teacher to receive confirmation.

I should have given a LOR or something, you are right. But they emailed me a checklist and said I could email or mail back. So I did the fastest option, I emailed them the checklist as an attachment. I simply checked the box saying I don’t have the award. And they said provide a reason, which I did. If they needed a physical letter they need to specify it in my opinion

To be fair, that’s pretty good sarcasm though :)

The burden of proof is on the applicant. This is not to be taken lightly because the UC system can toss your application if there is no adequate proof that you did the things you claimed to have done.

The instructions provided “Examples of Acceptable Documentation” that clearly illustrate what are acceptable, so the burden is on you to provide the requested documentation.

You guys should take this seriously. The UC have the right to toss your application if you don’t give them what they want. They can even put you in the black list for “cheating” the system. I received two questions from UCB and I know its stressful to deal with that. @transfereee, anyone who received additional questions and don’t respond in a timely manner will have their application delay or canceled. It clearly says on the email you received. Wishing the best for all of us!! Good luck!

@Ron2115 Thank you for clearing it up. I did turn in my verification on time and received an email that basically states that I’m cleared. I just wanted to know if the wait time on my admission decision will be random or if it will get pushed back because I still needed to send in the verification form.

I was told that all UC’s will proceed to process everybody’s applications regardless of whether you’ve been selected for audit. Right before they release decisions, they check on the students that have been audited and if they’ve cleared the audit then their decisions get released at the same time as everybody else’s.
