No scholarships?

I got into RU early action, but after emailing them, they said I did not qualify for scholarships (I do not know why, I have decent stats, but not good enough I guess). I am extremely poor, 0 EFC, and this is my main safety, is there any other sort of aid from RU? I am really scared.

Scholarships at Rutgers are extremely competitive.

Did you fill out a FAFSA yet? You may qualify for need-based aid.

What are your SAT and GPA stats?

Consider community college for 2 years. It is much less expensive.

My GPA is 3.62 and ACT is 30. My parents wont allow me to go to CC as they have higher expectations.

Nothing wrong with going to community college for a year or two to save money and then transferring to your school of choice. I had no money and that’s what I did. Turned out fine. Explain this to your parents.

Don’t mean to be harsh, but a lot of kids don’t get scholarships, no matter where they go. You have to assess your situation and see what is possible. Maybe another 4 year school would give you a better scholarship. I don’t know what you’re going for, but what about Montclair, Monmouth, Fairleigh Dickenson, Ramapo? Have you applied to any other school in NJ? Other schools (even privates) that are less competitive may give you more money.

What about NJ Stars? http://www.njstars.net/</a> NJ STARS is a scholarship program exclusively for New Jersey residents that covers the cost of tuition at New Jersey’s 19 community colleges.
Students who graduate in the top 15 percent of their high school class may be eligible.
Students must complete a rigorous series of high school courses as a first step toward eligibility, as determined by the New Jersey Commission on Higher Education in consultation with the New Jersey Commissioner of Education.

Good luck.
