So I forgot to register for the ACT for June 11 and the last day is Tuesday. Of course all the seats within a 50 mile radius are taken. Should I just study really hard over the summer and take it October?

It's a 1-hour drive and I'd have to wake up really early to be there at 7:45AM. Yeah I know, my fault for registering REALLY late. Do the seats ever open up?

You might want to consider standby testing (when I took the ACT one kid in my room was a standby). If you can afford it, you may be able to get into the June administration and get it over with instead of waiting until October: [ACT Registration : Standby Testing](<a href=“ACT Registration | ACT Testing Dates | The ACT Test”>ACT Registration | ACT Testing Dates | The ACT Test)

^Even better is to register to take the test in another school and, in the test day, show up in a nearer school (in a big one, if possible). They will admit you before standbys if they have seats available (what always happens)… It’s much cheaper (no extra fees) and, in the unlikely circunstance of not being admitted, you may just pay an extra $22 to transfer your registration to the next test date (October).

What’s a one-hour drive? The school at which you can take it? You wouldn’t have to wake up that early. Pack a good breakfast the night before (you can take yogurt, hard boiled eggs, granola bars, fruit, etc. to eat in the car) and lay out the clothes you will wear, as long as your ticket, ID, and pencils. You have to leave your house at 6:45; wake up at 6:30, pull on your clothes and brush your teeth. Then jump in the car and brush your hair, eat your breakfast, and relax.

Seriously, it’s not that hard to wake up at 6:30 am. Just go to bed early the night before.

I’m really tempted to do what College9999 suggested lol. Would it be any different I took a practice test from the ACT booklet?

Different than what? The actual thing?

I’ve only used tests from the Red Book and from the ACT website, and I scored consistently within a two to four point range (compared to each other and what I got on the actual thing), so they’re pretty reliable.

So I guess I’d have to practice pretty damn hard to do really well in October.

Hey I just checked the website and there are seats available but only for “No Writing”. I know most schools require the writing portion and that it will probably be safer to take it with writing. Is there anything I can do to take the writing portion if someone else doesn’t take it?
