Thank you in advance for anyone who even bothers applying.

Kinda ironic, not having sports - that's what the ivies where originally meant to...

Your scores are excellent, but your ECs are weak compared against some of your peers here at CC. If you don't get in, it's not because of a lack of sports.

oh well, thanks anyhow.
At least I won't die because of sports.

I also forgot to list that I dance, or used to - cultural, ballet, modern.
I paint too, and am intending to submit an art portfolio with my apps, if any school accepts it...
It's probably easier to list volunteer and ec as one thing.
Oh well, should I have any hope?
Should I pig out on EC's senior year?
.

What are my chances at the following? I'm interested in an Engineering Major, that is, unless i get into a LAC:

UMich AA
MIT
Harvard
Yale
Cornell
Stanford
Upenn
Brown
NYU
SUNY stony brook
Princeton
Carnegie Mellon
Caltech
UCBerkeley
Rutgers
Rice
Tufts

Some help please

What I meant earlier was that your ECs are fine paired with your SATs to make you a competitive applicant for most of the schools on that list. It's just that nothing is unique...unless your art catches their attention

hmmm, i better go paint some more then...^_~
: P bleh, what can I offer a school that they haven't already seen thousands of times before...well...not much. Oh well.
The funny thing is, the more I see of this site, the more worried I become.
Hmmm, ignorance is bliss.

That 790 will KILL you.

I think you have a good chance for any ivy league school. You've got amazing scores and good ecs. I think if you have a good essay you should get into one or two ivy league schools.

if they only admitted people who played sports, then that wouldn't be a very diverse class, now, would it? :)

don't worry. sports are just another type of ec that people put time into (unless you're being recruited, then it's MUCH more than an ec :p)

I think you have amazing scores. Again, the one thing keeping you out of harvard, mit, or brown is ur ecs. What makes you unique from all the other ivy applicants?
Another thing that is going against you is the fact the you are asian. MAny colleges, as much as they deny it, try to limit the number of acceptances for each minority. Most Ivys have 30% asian populations. So your competition will be many people with similar stats.
This one asian girl I know got into harvard. But the thing the set her apart was the fact that she was an all-state violinist.

Why the unwarranted advice?!?! More like ~13-15%...

All-state violinist?? Have you looked at this forum at all? It's filled with All-state (not the insurance company), heck some are even All-Eastern and others are All-Southern

Well, you obviously don't have stellar EC's...BUUUUT

if you apply to ALL the ivies, I guarantee you will get in to at least one. a 2390 is a WOW score...unless you took it like 4 times...although that's still damn good.

just because you don't have EC's doesn't mean you have no personality. bring your true interests and self to life in your essay, get good teacher reccomendations, and I see lots of Ivy in your future!

whatever you do, you will surely prosper

Not true. I know a kid who had perfect SATs and a 4.2 and he only got into his safety which was NYU Stern because he came off like an *******. So that means that the essay really counts and those stats arent as rare as u may think.

you can get in most of the college listed by you.

"Not true. I know a kid who had perfect SATs and a 4.2 and he only got into his safety which was NYU Stern "

Stern isn't a safety for anyone

Mr. A: 790 will kill you!
Mr. B: n*800s cannot save you.
others: ???

Yes, a sport is "just another" EC. But sports, especially if you play year-round, are demanding, excruciatingly physical, and didactic of more than just the sport itself. I know sports-essays are cliche, but presented correctly, sports can become amazing extra-curricular activities.

Also, you shouldn't plan on pigging out on EC's senior year. Just concentrate on what you have and do something amazing (Like having your own recital in a concert hall where you play piano and violin (at the same time, if you can manage)).

wow...2390. sheeeesh. i cant believe ur even posting in this forum.

"Mr. A: 790 will kill you!
Mr. B: n*800s cannot save you.
others: ???"

i think that's just their jealousy talking...
i wish i were as smart as talented as you are... i bring shame to all Chinese students :(

Your ECs are not weak (though they're not superb). I think, combined with your scores, you have a fine chance as the schools you're considering. Ivies aren't just for athletes and URMs.

You're fine. You should be able to get into basically any school you apply to, with solid essays and grades/test scores like you have. Some of the best credentials a student could possibly have.

Just make sure you have an interesting essay and don't appear to be a bookworm, as colleges don't want those! :) j/k They want well rounded bookworms HAHA!
