Hi,
Chance me?
For Uc's etc

Here's my story, im from a single parent home and we have had trouble financial for many many years. I have 2 other siblings as well.
I go to a top 100 (country wide) high school and maintain a 3.0 GPA

I have taken 2 college classes @ community colleges
Spanish 3
And a science which i did fairly well in

My ACT was around 33.around a 2200 sat i guess.

What are my chances at Ucla, davis,Boston University,University of Chicago, irvine, and etc
I live in California.

I know i have potential, but i maintain two jobs and help my mother alot.
I dont get much time to study, but i do try alot.

Please chance me honestly, because i really need to know where im at.

Also i have been officer of two clubs and have 200 hours of community service.
Internship at dentist office
And went to volunteer at a Village in India where i started a donation fund and bought water filters.

Good recc's and my mother brought over 30 of my realitves from abroad, which is an interesting life expierence, becuase she helped them and many of them lived with us for free.(If its relavent)

Also i do go to one of the top schools in the nation so it is very hard to maintain a GPA

You need to go read some of the threads in the Parents Forum about colleges for 3.0 students, and some of the threads in the Financial Aid Forum for students like you who have to hold down two jobs while they are in HS. You will get much better information there for your situation.

Since you are at a “Top 100” HS, I expect that your HS guidance office is expert on helping students get into good colleges and universities. Make an appointment with your counselor. If he/she is so new to the business that he/she has never met a 3.0 student who holds down two jobs and has scored 33 on the ACT, ask him/her to get help from someone who has more experience with students like you.

Wishing you all the best.

This would be better off in the “chance me?” forum. But I’ll bite.

I don’t know enough about the UCs to judge, but living in CA wll help your chances in general. I think UCLA would be a reach, but I can’t speak for the other UCs. You have good test scores and solid extracurriculars, and if you can find a way to work your jobs and financial experiences into your college applications, then I think you have a decent shot at Boston University. Chicago would be a reach for you. Your GPA is all relative - it depends on how you compare to the rest of the students in your grade. It does seem a little low, but I’d need more information before I can make a solid judgement off of your GPA (and I’ve also known people with a 3.0-3.2 who got into BU).

Thanks for all the info guys!
Where is the chance me forum?
