No supplement essay?

Am I correct that there is no supplement essay on the Middlebury supplement on the new commonapp?

I looked everywhere ... just asks some basic information and check boxes of extracurricular interests.

Yep… so happy!

I’m wondering the same thing too. Maybe they’ll upload it later? If not, we got lucky!

There is the common application essay, but last year they stopped asking for a supplemental essay under the assumption that it didn’t really offer that much additional information vs the required more work force to read.

Hi! I’m going to be a freshman at Midd this fall.

Although there was no supplemental essay last year, after visiting and talking to the admissions officers this past year, it sounds to me like they will probably add a supplemental essay this year. Midd got over 8000 more applications last year than they’ve ever had in the past because it was so easy to apply. Apparently that caused a lot of stress for admissions (although obviously it is also a very good thing for Midd’s reputation!).

For your sake, I hope I am wrong!!

Not quite. Middlebury received nearly 8,000 (7,984 to be exact) applications last year, compared to 6,900 the year before. So more like 1,000 more applications (which is still a lot).

Im a Midd '14 kid
No supplement essay!
Best of luck, i think my interview sealed the deal for me.
PLus, they love gap year kids!

I applied and got into Midd '14 this year. There wasn’t a supplemental essay, which was sweet.

What I heard from admissions was that they dropped the supplemental essay because it caused a lot of work, but made no discernible difference between candidates…So my guess is that it is gone…

The AO said that everything is with the common application essay.

Hi, I am planning to take a GAP year and have been advised to not indicate this to colleges until after I am accepted. Did you let Middlebury know this on your application? Thanks.
