No time for SAT prep

Hello :)
I really need some suggestions from you guys.
So, I wrote my first SAT in June without preparation and got a 1650. (Terrible)
For the colleges I want to apply to, I need above 2000 minimum.
I know I should've utilized the summer vacation and prepared sincerely for the October SAT but the time is gone and I have barely done anything. Now SAT is just one week away and I'm not at all confident.
I've been using the Blue Book and I've taken 2 practice tests so far and my score is 1820 and 1850.
I also need to give SAT subject tests in Math Level 2 and Physics for which I haven't started preparing yet and have registered to write it in November.
I believe the last SAT that I can write for most colleges is in December.

So, I need to know when should I write SAT I and SAT II, so I can do my best on them?

Also, would it be okay to ignore my school studies focus mainly on SAT because my apps really depend on it right now.

Also, if I do give the test one week later, do you think doing one practice test everyday would help? Or they are effective only when they are spaced out? :/

Thank You :)

Hey ,

It seems like you started studying late and from what I gathered you want to score well. You should work hard if you want to do well on these tests so dedicate all your time to studying, that would be tip number one.My first score was 1620 , very close to yours and I did it without preparation too. They say that is an auspicious start but I am telling you that you must prepare and solve more tests ,the key to mastering SAT is practicing. Here is a good article on how to find your way around SAT and you can search for more and check out threads. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/1481004-tips-how-get-2400-a.html</a></p>

Concerning your schools subjects I would say that depends on your curriculum, which you must know well.I am doing the same thing actually I delayed ALL my courses and am currently focusing on the app process but in my country we do not have any monthly tests on senior year so it is okay to do this because when the college requests my mid-year report I will send them a report of average previous scores. But if this is not the case with you then you should pay some attention to school courses as well.

As for SAT subject, you are the only one who can tell whether you can finish the subjects quickly.Because perhaps you are familiar with much of the material or not familiar at all.But considering that the tests are in five weeks I would recommend focusing on SAT 1 now and taking care of subjects right after October 5.

Good luck :)

Try to do a little work on the SAT every day-- you don’t need to complete a full test, but try to complete at least one section a day! I think that will definitely help your score :)

I’m actually in the almost exact same position as you- I got a 1620 in March, and I haven’t even taken any subject tests yet. I also need to get 2000+ and take two subject tests, so right after the Oct 5th SAT, I’m going to be studying for SAT Math and Chem along w/ the ACT b/c I heard one test might be easier than the other. Perhaps you should consider the ACT?

Thanks for all your replies (:
@Ghadah - Thanks for that link ^^

I have 4 more days and I guess I’ll do as much practice as I can. Nothing else.

@bobasaur - Wow, I thought I couldn’t take ACT because it was only for US but I just checked and I was wrong :P

Don’t worry, we’re both in it together  We just need to make sure we’re off of this and focused on studying hahaha

Oh my same here. I’m in the 1700s and I need to be in the 2000s. TEST IS IN FOUR DAYS. NO ONE PANIC. I AM NOT PANICKING. KEEP CALM AND STUDY ON. WE GOT THIS YOU GUYS. WE WILL KICK ETS ASS.

Hahaha, yes we can do this!

GUYS. I’M PANICKING. Seriously, I’m actually considering delaying my SAT 1 to December (I’m taking two subject tests in November) and taking the ACT on Oct 26  I’m going to talk to my college counselor tomorrow and see what she says.

I was thinking of doing the same because I’m giving 2 SAT Subject tests in November as well but I think I’ll just give it now and see how it goes. I know giving the test a lot of times doesn’t look good but… :/

Let me know what your counsellor suggests

I need the fifteen messagesI need the fifteen messagesI need the fifteen messagesI need the fifteen messagesI need the fifteen messagesI need the fifteen messagesI need the fifteen messages

Lol what the hell :P

Lol Panic party , I’m taking sat on the 16th , ACT on the 26th, subject tests nov 2nd for chem. math1&2. I got a 1580 on my SAT’s and I need minimum 2000. So yeah a 400 point increase :/

SAT subject tests are gonna suck… probably gonna get a 750 on Math 2 and like a 500 on Physics…

It’ll be difficult for anyone with no preparation, really.

At least I’m done with the main ones in the SAT/ACT

YES WE WILL KICK ETS’s ASS

I’m going to fail the SAT’s tomorrow
I just can’t function under a time limit and after taking a practice test I don’t feel confident at all. Maybe I’m just tired.

Assignment: Do people benefit more from having many choices or few choices? Plan and write an essay in which you develop your point of view on this issue. Support your position with reasoning and examples taken from your reading, studies, experience, or observations.

Sometimes it’s strenuous to make a decisive decision when a plethora of options are given. Many people grovel over having to make a decision when they have more than three options. It is is inherent in human nature to go back and forth and feel conflicted and overwhelmed when presented with myriad choices. Although having a plethora of options has a pleasant facade, ultimately fewer options are better because it allows humans to feel confident in the decision they made. This can be seen through history and my own personal experiences.

In the 3rd century a village called Gilman, which had a population of 20,000 and was located off the coast of Greece, the inhabitants would pick a city mayor between 2 candidates. Although in the premordial stages, the people would have to pick between 30 candidates. The people of Gilman never felt satisfied with whom they elected; thus, the chosen leader would never obtain a clear mandate in support of his decisions. Because of this, the inhabitants were left frustrated and often felt cheated as their abject living conditions never seemed to improve. Finally, Simon Dixy lead the change to reform Gilman’s abhorrent elections and created the 2 candidate system. Soon after, a clear winner was always decided upon and thus was able to masterfully improve the economy, until finally, Gilman had become the lucrative city in Greece. Because the people were given limited options, success ensued and the people always felt confident in their decision.

As a kid, I also felt overwhelmed when deciding to pick a sport. Ultimately, I decided on joining basketball, soccer, and baseball, which vastly overstretched me. Because I was given too many options, I didnt want to feel disappointed in the decision I made, so instead I spread myself thinly by choosing to participate in each sport. Although every coach recognized my raw talent and pure athleticism, I was never able to truly master and build upon that talent to become the all-star that each of them told me i had the potential to become. Because I couldn’t focus on one, I was left overwhelmed, which lead to my eventual failure in each sport.

To succeed and feel confident, humans need to be given limited options. If we are given a plethora of options, we often regret the choice we make. In life, we should be given fewer choices rather than more choices, as it is overall more beneficial.

can someone grade my essay
