DD is really interested in Vandy and we loved the campus when we visited last spring. Her scores and grades are competitive enough that I believe she has a good chance at getting in. She is interested in business and marketing, but am now realizing that there is no undergrad business degree. My question is what do other students major in if they are interested in business?

economics.

take a look at the curriculum online in depth. There are some specializations within majors with clusters. Also fyi, Vandy has a newish one year post grad program in accounting that is one full year of classes and test prep.

Definitely econ. Plus there are minors/concentrations in “managerial studies.” Includes corporate strategy, financial economics, and leadership/organization.

So then would a person major in Economic and minor in Financial economics? Or is Managerial Studies the major?

The major is Economics. The minor is any of the 3 areas in Managerial Studies. Not sure that financial economics would be particularly useful if one is already majoring in economics though. Corporate strategy seems to cover things not covered by the core econ classes. Up to the student though.

DS is interesting in trading the markets so Financial economics would be a good minor for him. Wonder if there is another major that would suit him?

The advice about not doing the financial economics minor if you are doing an economics major is horrible. The financial economics minor is by far the most practical and useful of the three managerial studies minors and you learn different things than in core econ classes.
