So I really like UVA a lot, but I like a lot of other schools more. I was counting on it being a match since many ppl have said for OOS transfers it doesn't matter like it did for OOS freshman. Unfortunately, I asked admissions and they said that it's the same deal so it's just as competitive. No UVA for me.

I'm looking for a low match/match school with a good Economics program. I've already got plenty of schools that I'm in love with so now I just need one low match. I'm at a CC with a 4.0, tough courseload, graduate with honors, 2220 SAT, good recs and pretty good ECs.

no I like UVA a lot but for the price (35k) I wouldn't really consider it too much. The only reason I really had it on my list of schools was because I figured, if there wasn't the same natural buffer against OOS students as during the freshman cycle, getting into the Econ program would be a low match/match for me. But since it's just as hard as it was as an entering freshman, and I have a better chance at some great private schools for about the same money, I'm not interested in UVA.

I was willing to pay the money before if I only got into UVA and my safety, but now I would probably think of UVA as a high match/low reach b/c OOS matters, so it defeats the purpose.

I'm guessing this means most top public schools treat transfer OOS students just like freshman applicants, so I'm going to have to find a private school to be a low match.

So yeah any suggestions would help. I had always thought Boston University would be good but the grade deflation is too much of a problem IMO.

i don't think so? a couple of my friends applied and got accepted as out of state transfers. one applied as an econ major and the others as math majors. they both got in with 3.7+ gpa's.

i honestly think it'll be a great match for you brand.

so michigan looks pretty great. for OOS, it's still 35k/yr, but I don't guess that's something I can escape. Does anybody know a link to some pictures...I couldn't find any on the school website?

Does Umich really seem like a low match/match for me? It still seems like it'd be pretty competitive.

Also, other suggestions are always welcome. I wouldn't mind one more option to add to it.

i've got just under 40 right now...i'll finish with about 67. I hope that's not going to be a problem since some schools complain about having over 60, but it's the only way I can get my AA and finish the prereqs for various business schools. Anyone have any input about that? Will they just cut off what they want and not consider it a very big deal?

brand, i have seen several of your posts on other school's boards and im wondering, where else are you applying? and why arent u applying to UVA?

well my list is kind of a work in progress but there are certain schools that have not changed and are definite. I'm still working through trying to keep my list somewhat manageable. I'll definitely be applying to Chicago (#1 choice), UT McCombs, Brown, Georgetown McDonough, Wesleyan, NYU Stern, and WUSTL.

I'll probably also apply to these schools, even though I'm kind of hesitant b/c they're mostly all big reaches: Cornell, Columbia, UPenn, Swat, and now possibly UMich.

I'm thinking I don't want to apply to UVA b/c it's an awesome school, but I am more interested in other schools on my list that are already high matches/reaches. I'd prefer not to add another to those categories. If UVA could be called a low match/match for me, then I'd apply. But since the OOS thing still applies to transfer students, and they only took about 800 transfers, I can't in all honesty call UVA anything less than a high match. OOS makes it about as uncertain as Berkeley.

I like UMich a lot - the location is great and the school seems to be a good fit. I'll have to email admissions and see if the OOS thing matters for transfer as well. I'm kinda thinking most all public schools are going to be like that though.

well it does for UVA according to the email I got, but I'm hoping not for UMich. So just wondering, since it's rolling admissions, if I send in my app soon I'll get my decision sooner and then if I get in I basically can stop worrying so much? Do you still get to respond in like June or is it relative to when you receive the offer?
