We were supposed to drive down Saturday for a tour on Monday. DD was diagnosed with mono this morning. I have no clue when we will be able to get down to see the school. If she is better fast enough, February is out as all the big meets for swimming happen then. Bad timing all the way around.

So sorry about your girl. Mono is tough. Kids here have had it and are taking about a month to recover. We have a friend who had to leave college after Thanksgiving, and they told him to just come back in January for his exams, as he’d be worthless the last couple of weeks of the semester.

So sorry to hear about your DD.

Did the doctor say how long she’ll likely be sick?

Hopefully your DD will be able to visit UA at a later date. Having any type of sickness is no fun.

My daughter (from Ohio) who was also a competitive swimmer did not visit until after the season was over last year!

We did visit the week after the state meet and were lucky enough to go to a smaller honors program. After the honors college great program she seriously started considering UA.

It has been everything they (University Honors) promised &more!!!

Also FYI we flew into Atlanta and rented a car. Total price around $100 for tickets & $30 for weekend rate for car…

As far as housing, after our Feb visit last year she THEN applied for housing; of course sold on the honors / suite rooms. We then learned about how they do housing…first to accept first to pick room. We called housing and a wonderful person told D to go on Facebook say what kind of room she was looking for etc… She meet her 1 roomate with in a week, and she “pulled” my D into her room contract… It has all worked out well!

I have the first room selection date for non honors and non living learning, how good are my chances of getting into riverside or ridgecrest or one of the newer suite type dorms?

so sorry to hear that Peg! I hope she feels better soon and can get down for her visit.

Since there are super suite dorms that are non-honors and non living learning community, they do not open up for selection until the non-honors selection dates. If you login early, you should have a very good chance of getting space in your preferred residence hall.
