So I got into NYU. Yay! But I didn't get any finaid whatsoever, so I'd be paying 33,000+ just for tuition. Bummer.

I was also accepted at some other good schools where I got scholarships. Not a bad deal. Do you kids think I should go with the $$? If so, where? fyi, I want to study International Affairs/Politics/Relations and Spanish next year.

So, I'm trying to decide between:

GWU Elliot School of Intl Affairs + Honors program + Half-tuition scholarship

Boston U CAS + Honors program + Half-tuition scholarship

Dickinson College + Honors + Half-tuition scholarship

NYU CAS, no honors, no scholarship

Thankssss for your opinions <3

If you think NYU is going to be impossible to manage financially...

"- GWU Elliot School of Intl Affairs + Honors program + Half-tuition scholarship" hands down

for international affairs it would be smart to choose GWU even if the money were equal.

Are you insane? You should've taken GW over NYU regardless of the money.

Hey, If you want to study International Affairs, GWU is THE best choice. So it looks like a landslide for GWU...

Haha okay thanks, GW is my top choice right now, and it's nice to see that reinforced. I've heard NYU's IR program is extremely difficult to get into anyway, so it looks like I'll be in DC next year... thank youuuu

Oh and bullet, I'm not insane ;) I haven't sent in my decision yet.

NYU's politics department is completely out of whack. When I went there 3 years ago, there was a club called "The Politics Society" to help politics students navigate through the craziness of the department. I was the webmaster, until I dropped out. I don't think the guy that I trained to take over ever did anything, since the beautiful website is now down.

Point is, if you really want to know what it's like, see if that club is still around and drop in on one of their meeting if you can. If not, send them an email.

As one girl in (another major) club told me - she was considering politics as a major, and she asked NYU politics majors what are some good classes to take. They said, go to Columbia.

(I believe IR is a part of the politics department, since a lot of the stuff overlaps, and it's basically an honors politics major.)

-m

seems to be the general consensus...

gracias
