Nobel Prize

Of anyone on CC who would you expect to win a Nobel in the future...?

i want to shoot for a fields medal since there isn’t a noble prize for mathematics, but after i win the fields medal i might turn my sights onto the peace prize

thiscouldbeheavn if he studies under tao at ucla (for the fields, of couse)

millancad for literature :)

Among CCers with whom I am familiar, I would say that the odds are greatest for mifune.

mifune and Agturtle are most likely to win Nobel Prizes.

^Oh, thank you both for the warm regards.

As for my choice, I would have to select silverturtle.

As a side note, winning such an award is inherently subjective and certainly excludes professions that have their own distinct assets. (Also, it’s an exercise in longevity.)

christiansoldier

Expect? Haha, one should never expect someone to win a prize of that calibre…

Well, if it’s been 10 years since you made a major scientific breakthrough, your odds might be decent.

OK TCBH, if the LHC people find the Higgs then they can expect a Nobel in their future. Barring that though…

I do not think his chances are that great, considering the career hopes he has.

mifune, silverturtle, and christiansoldier

The question though is who on the team would win. The Nobel Prize has so many strange rules…

Millancad, mifune, or ThisCouldBeHeavn. [/inthatorder]

TCBH would have a tough time, IMO.

I don’t know too much about guys like silverturtle, mifune, and christiansoldier besides that they have awesome stats

So basically: “I dunno” shrugs
Sorry Monochrome ;)

in all honesty, i doubt future nobel laureates would be spending their times on a college discussion site when they could be reading or doing experiments

^ lol. but some of the worlds best students come on here so it is somewhat likely that a future Nobel winner is among the CC ranks.

Asking this kind of a question turns this into sort of a popularity contest tho. Most of those mentioned have unbelieveable stats, attend prestigious college or just sound smart when they post.

^and that makes them bad candidates from the CC pool because…?

I think theyre excellent candidates - some of CC’s best. Its just that they are chosen on factors that are not perfectly correlated with success in chemistry, physics, medicine, literature or peace-promoting.
