Does anybody know the likelihood of coming off the waiting list at Nobles? trying to hold off committing to another school, remaining hopeful, but also need to be realistic. Has anyone had any experience or knowledge of students making it off the waiting list?

At this point, whatever the schools involved, it is time to choose among your offers of admission and/or public school, assuming that a wait list is a no. No matter how encouraging the wait list school has been, you cannot bank on it.

Nobles is not known for going to the wait list.

Yeah...exactly how i wud say it

Dont depend on your waitlists because there is a big chance of not hearing from them. Its safest to reply to a school youve been accepted to and wait for the waitlist as patiently as you can.

My child was on the Nobles wait list for 7th. We sent them an update, got no reply. Sent them notice (by email and snail mail) asking to be removed from waitlist. Got no reply. In late August, got a letter suggesting that we 'make other plans' .

Make plans to go to another private where your child was accepted
In my experience it is really tough to get off of waitlists at schools like Nobles and if you do, you won't hear until mid to late summer anyway

Well, not to get your hopes up but as of a few days ago they still did not have a definite count of students for class of 2011. So maybe they're still tweaking the numbers? I don't know but I'll let you know if I hear more.

I am confused as to how you are still holding off on committing when contracts were due april 10th right?

I'm assuming GNLRK HAS moved on and committed somewhere else but there's always hope, right? Maybe they've decided to stick with public school or accept an offer at another private school (even one that they're very happy with) but would consider changing their mind if they were contacted by Nobles' admissions with good news. I'm sure there are lots of people in that situation - even at the risk of losing their deposit.

that makes sense, but I was confused about holding off. I also thought the procedure was to commit to one school and remain on a waitlist at another (or more than one).
