Nobody interested in UCBoulder?

It's (surprisingly) ranked in the top 100 and is in a beautiful location, no one else applied here?

I was accepted, but the out of state tuition is crazy so I wasn't really thinking about it. Now they're throwing like suitcases of money at me, so I might reconsider going there...

CU-Boulder! Sheesh. :P

I'll be applying.

It isn't suprisingly in the top 100, it has very strong natural science programs. If you want to study physics, biochemistry, etc., the educational quality is first rate. The scandals surrounding the football team and a rogue professor have certainly changed the image though.

Did you apply BD? Would it be ridiculous to study political science there? I'll admit, it's the location that attracts me the most.

I'm currently a junior in HS, but I would love to go there. Too bad it's very expensive for out-of-staters.

I did apply, but then again I'm in-state so tuition is nothing for me. I know some really smart kids there on full-rides studying political science, though I'm not familiar with that program really (I'm more of a biochemistry kind of guy).

i got in. i want to go but its far.

I got in there and I've confirmed my intent to enroll already. I'm from the sf bay area, is there anyone else thats gonna be goin there next year?

I've been accepted, but I'm wondering about CU's reputation as a 'party only-never study' school. I was also offered the Chanselor's scholarship, but it's still quite a lump sum of $$$ per year for us out-of-state people, even tho it IS a LOT cheaper than Ivys and many privates. Overall CU is in my top three, but I'm still waiting for acceptance from 7 others, so we'll see.

Does anyone know about their Education school? Or their art department, specifically photography?

i was accepted too! i'm still waiting to hear from a couple other schools. i'm really excieted to visit in April. Boulder is so pretty :)

Can any of you guys who visit please post a trip report when you get back. My S is considering applying next year. Thanks and good luck.

I'll be going there next year, like I said before though I am in-state. Quick question for you out of state kids: what is the biggest scholarship you can get? Because we can get $3k a year as in-state for norlin scholars.
Also to the "party only never study" thing, sure you can go to CU to slack off and be close to some ski resorts, or you can go there to actually learn something. There are kids in every major from both sides of the spectrum from partying to never going outside they study so much; most people are found somewhere in between though.
I've visited a few times and know a lot of people who go there, so if anybody wants to know something specific feel free to ask.

I'm OOS and they're giving me 15k a year, plus norlin is 2k.

yeah, I'm OOS and they're giving me 15,000/year too.

CU's great! Boulder's great! Except I'm kind of mad at them right now for not accepting me into Norlin...but seriously, don't worry about the scandals, CU's a great school. I live in Boulder and I'm taking a class there right now (I really like it) and there are a lot of wonderful, intellectual, open-minded people to talk to. Plus, Boulder is pretty much the greatest place ever.

I just got accepted into Norlin, I guess this year they changed it to $3,000/yr, unless they lied to me in the letter. That and if you get PLC as well (which is now $1,000/yr) is about all us in-state kids can get out of them. For anybody who is considering going there or knows for sure, what do you all want to major in?

my-3-sons - My S is also considering applying next year. We are from MA and went out to visit in late Jan. Timing was based on when we could ski. First spent two days at Vail and one at Copper. He was convinced that he wanted to spend the rest of his life out there until we hit the Sunday afternoon traffic back to Denver.

Seemed like a great school, beautiful location. He is interested in a history/humanities major and may change his mind a few times. Was interested in the residential living/learning type communities and some of the outdoor activities. Only real drawback would be the difficulty in going back and forth to home to visit. Free transportation to the airport. They also will lock in your tuition rate for four years if you are out of state, which I appreciated. We are driving up to UVM in a few weeks and will ski in Northern VT before that.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

This is my opinion on CU, they have awesome science and math based schools/majors because they are a big public school with a lot of money for that. However, I have heard not so good things from people in the more hummanities based majors, like the classes are not challenging, interesting, or the students are too apathetic to really get into good discussions. Good but kinda wild social scene, awsome location, icky food/ dorms. Yep, thats what I think. I hope I don't have to go to CU because I'm not into science or math, but I may if money from others colleges doesn't pull through, so we shall see!

i go to a boarding school fairly close to boulder. let me tell you, CU is wack, the psudo-hippie town of boulder is wack and the mountains get real tired after awhile. i have partied there quite a few times and if you really dig the frat braggh beer pong scene then by all means get your buff on. if you only like white people, CU is the perfect school for you. black? be prepared to be asked if you are on the basketball team or football team daily. so basically i'm calling out names. effff CU and effff boulder.

p.s. if you're from colorado and you're used to this crappy state then it's different i suppose but if you're out of state and especially from s. california everyone will already know the score on you, it's the fall back school for dumb rich girls from l.a. trust me i grew up with some of them.

if you go to CU, i'm sorry...on more levels than one
