Hello, I took the October SATs at my local high school. Last time I took the SATs there, I didn’t have any issues. But this time, for the first 3 sections, there was a lawn-mower noise right outside the window. I get easily distracted so I couldn’t focus at all. And I sat right by the window, so the noise was louder for me. I thought I was just hearing things, but my friend said he heard it as well. My first three sections were the essay, and two CR sections, which incidentally, went down about 30 points together. Is this something that I should report or is this something that happens often? Thanks!
P.S. I am not using the noise as an excuse for my scores going down. I just want to know if I should report the noise to collegeboard or not. If you’re not gonna answer the question or say something smart (which many CC users love to do), just don’t comment. Thanks!
I love how you already anticipate negative responses lol.
Back to topic. If you can manage to get a consensus out of many test takers. You should be able to report this incident to college board together. I’m not sure how that would change things though.
Why didn’t you think of this before the Wednesday after the test??
As BeCambridge suggests by way of inquiry, it would have been better for you to make a complaint both to the facility at which the testing was done, as well as via email directly to the College Board. A timely reporting would have lent both integrity to the complaint, and an avenue of investigation for a College Board administrator who would 1)have had to contact the facility anyway, or 2) offer you the remedy of canceling your test and not scoring it, and allowing you to sit for no fee on the next testing date.
@GirlChild so there is no point in making a complaint?
