NOMINATION+LOA= APPt!

I think Hutchison told Megbee because she has her LOA. That way she won't have to wait to find out and now she can relax. They only phoned her.

Both of us are relieved, we have an interview with Congressman McCaul at 2:15 this Saturday, but we both have a nomination, so its not absolutely nessessary.

I know this waiting is frustrating but by i-day you will have completely forgotten about this part of the process! :)

Patriot, I called McNulty as well, and I was told that we should be receiving a call regarding the interview by.....today. The guy specifically said December 1st like three times, so I was a bit taken aback when I had no call tonight. Anyways, from what he said, the interviews are on the 13th sometime between 8 and 12 o'clock. You didn't get a call tonight, did you?

I did not recieve a call tonight either. Hmm, maybe tommorow? I guess we can wait but if I dont hear anything within the next day or so, I'm gonna call to see whats up. Anyways, are you applying for nominations from the Senators as well, West (most likely yes!)? If so, have you heard anything yet? Because I haven't heard anything from either of them.

Hey Patriot, its Friday night, and still nothing....I am also applying for the nominations for the Senators, and have not heard anything as well. I have a basketball game, so if I come back tonight and find there are no messages, Ill call their offices up and see whats happening....you hear anything yet?

Nothing here either.

Patriot, this is really getting to bother me. I called McNaultys office today, and the guy who usually handles it was not there....I left my message with the secretary, and as of 6 tonight I still have not heard any word...its the freaken fifth, and he was supposed to contact us on the 1st!

I called today as well, and I still hava heard nothing here. Sheesh what the heck is going on with them? I guess we should just keep calling until we can get a hold of the guy that handles it. Let me know if/as soon as you hear anything, and I'll do the same, West.

agreed...gotta love when our congressional offices are at their best

Thats why congressmen meet at the Capit0l, spelled with a zero as my 3rd grade teacher taught us, because they get zero things done.

Anyone with LOA's-If you would check your status on the website and say what it is that would be appreciated.

I've been Letter of Assurance for the last month or so...and all of a sudden mine changes to "complete" today. Same as it had been before.

Mine just says: Your Status:
Candidate* (you have been deemed potentially competitive and have been sent a candidate kit)
Appointment Status:
Letter of Assurance

It used to say something about Incomplete (needed college transcript), which it doesn't say anymore. I'm assuming it still is "incomplete" though, still need to send that in I guess.

A few thoughts on dealing with congressional and/or senatorial offices. I worked in one for six years so I know a bit about them.

They deal with 100's of phone calls(and now emails) a day. Some are of tremendous urgency. Families who've been evicted. Parents concerned about a service member they haven't heard from in Iraq. Vets whose pension was cut off. While the status of your appointment is the most important thing in your life, it is just one part of a congressional staff's agenda. Most offices are understaffed and overworked. Staff assigned to academy issues often has other important duties within the congressional office. Most of them are generalists who handle a lot of different situations.

Perhaps some paperwork is behind schedule, holding up the decision on your nomination. Deadlines in government are fluid. You will find out when you get to the academy that you must be flexible. Government runs on its own timetable, not yours.

Please bear in mind that academy appointments are just one of the many things your congressional office does for you. It's a busy place and an important one. You will hear in due time.

And everyone sweating out the LOA's...remember, that's only a small group of kids. Most have to wait until March or April or even later to hear about an appointment. I realize our society operates on instant gratification but that is not the case in the military.

Good luck to everbody and hunker down for the long haul. Then I or R-day will come and your journey will just be beginning.

Ugh..Even having an LOA and nomination can be frustrating.

Looks like I have some calls to make.

Try having none of the above. lol

or medical!

i'm the same as falconhopeful,

mine used to say "letter of assurance" and now it says "complete" , which, i have no idea what that means, i have my LOA, all my med stuff is cleared, and i got a nomination

Maybe they actually sent off our acceptances??

Anyhow...I should be calling them tomorrow (actually today..just finished my homework at 3 in the morning).

West, have you still not heard anything? I still haven't, and I just called and wasn't able to get an answer (I got some guy who had no clue what was going on and told me he'd have someone call me back, so I'm gonna call a little later.) It's not less than a week to the interview and still no word as to the details or anything.

Patriot, this really is unbelievable. I have called 3 times this week, twice leaving both my name and number and specifically asking to be called back later that night. I just don't know. Do you think they are avoiding us for some reason? I realize that they are a busy office, maybe they have to push back the interviews or something. But the odds of two motivated kids not being able to contact ANYONE over the past two weeks? I just don't know. I'll call again today, and just hope for the best. The guy who does the Academy stuff is never in....maybe thats the problem....talking to the "secretaries." Hopefully I can catch him, because as you said, interviews are less than a week away, and we still have no clue.
