Hello all,

Like most of you seeking answers, I have recently applied just this past app. period for Fall 2015. I only applied to 4 UCs, no Cal States: UCB, UCLA, UCSB, and UCSD as an English major, with alternate major in Asian American Studies where applicable. Realistically, not all of us have competitive GPAs of 3.7-3.9+, so I am posting this on behalf of the underdogs hoping to get into the UC system. My #1 is UCLA. I am concerned of my chances. Listed are some pros and cons (more cons):

Applied with TAP

IGETC + AA-T

Most prereqs. done (except foreign lang. which I took 3 yrs. French in hs. though the app. doesn't ask?)
Will finish last 2 major prep. courses come Spring
Will finish this semester with 3 As, 1 B

2 jobs with one on campus + attempting full time student status resulted in
-two "Ws"
-one F, retook, got a B
*none of these courses are of my major (though I know most UCs admit on cumulative GPA)

Spring 2015 will be my last of 4 yrs in CC with 90+ units. How badly will this elongated stay at CC affect my chances?

Unpaid internships with county: department of behavioral health: Youth Crisis Clinical and Research and Eval. 60+ hrs total
Additional volunteer work with college 40+ hrs

Pres. of environmental club and involved in other clubs on campus
*(I keep reading on here that E.C.s are not even looked at seriously though? Counselors are advising students otherwise, however.)

Personal statement: IDK. Talked about passion in education, then got maybe too honest as I discussed extenuating financial circumstances -low income background, attended multiple elem. schools, moved a lot, low-income neighborhoods, raised in single parent home, both parents lacking secondary education, second gen. Viet. American, balancing 2 jobs to help with bills, etc. etc.

*A professor said my background would actually help my chances? but how true is this?

Peers of mine are concerned with their 3.8+ GPAs and getting in and I'm just sitting here like...really? Look at my case and feel better about yourself!!

When we get decisions I will post where I did and/or didn't get accepted to hopefully help those finding themselves in similar situations as mine.

Any honest outlook on my chances would be incredibly helpful as I hold my breath and wait for 4 months on decisions. Thank you!
