Non Consecutive Credits

I am currently a high school senior that is having trouble finding an answer to an important question I have. In my freshman year I took a course called “car mechanics” that is listed under the subject of fine arts on my transcript. Before my sophomore year I ended moving to a different school. The first semester of my junior year I took a “visual arts” class, which is also listed under the subject of fine arts on my transcript, but was later switched out second semester due to joining a sport. Does this qualify as a whole year of an art or will I need to do another semester of “visual arts” in order to qualify for admission into a UC/CSU? When talking to my counselor she seemed appalled about the car mechanics class saying that that was not an actual art class although my transcript said otherwise. Does it still apply although my new school does not offer the class?

If you are unsure whether a course is an art course for UC/CSU purposes, look up your high school’s course list here:

You need a year long high school art course, or two semesters of sequentially related high school art courses, or alternatives such as a college art course or a sufficiently high score on an AP or IB art exam:
