Non-conservatory music schools (contemporary music)

Okay. So this is annoyingly specific. But i’m of the age where if i want to continue my education, and finish my bachelor’s degree (as well as pay for it myself), I should be as picky as possible, until I find the precise school I’m looking for. So here are my criteria, and I’m hoping someone might have some good suggestions.

– A non-conservatory school (meaning contemporary music. 20th century at the least)
– A music school that’s part of a larger university (as there are other subjects i’m interested in majoring/minoring in, like journalism or english). So not Berklee, or Musicians Institute or stuff like that
– A school with a radio station
– That supports/accepts transfer students into its program (as some schools like Drexel won’t accept transfer students into its music department)

I don’t care where in the country (or the world) this school might be. If it’s the right school, I’ll figure out a way to be there.

I need to improve my life, and I’m not going to do it by accepting anything less than what it is I’m actually trying to do (which I’m not even that sure about, to begin with). So thanks in advance.

You’re using the wrong term - conservatory does not necessarily mean classical - and contemporary does not mean commercial - which I’m guessing is the area of interest to you, as opposed to what is known as New Music - which is concert music. There are a number of threads on the Music Major Forum about schools offering programs that might appeal to you - although I don’t know which accept transfers.

Here are a few from a quick google search:
