What's that like? I feel like, because I'm not musical in any way, I might feel a little sequestered from the crowd.

Don’t worry: the Arts & Sciences students outnumber the Conservatory students by nearly 4 to 1. Although many non-Conservatory students are actively involved with music, certainly not everyone is. Music is only one of many ways to feel engaged. And who knows what musical interests you might develop once you arrive?

I’m a College student with absolutely no musical talent whatsoever, and I don’t feel cut off at all. I have friends in the Con who I didn’t realize were in the Con for months because we just never talked about majors. Plus, it’s awesome to come home from a long day and sit in the lounge while people are casually playing really gorgeous piano pieces (happened to me last week). Trust me, there really isn’t any downside to the level of musical talent on this campus. All it means is that you’ll have friends who are really fantastic at playing the viola, you’ll catch some amazing concerts, and you’ll have the opportunity to get lessons yourself, if you so choose.
