My dad has provided me with more financial support since I turned 18 than my mom. He plans to claim me as his dependent on his taxes. My parents are divorced, and in the past, my mom has claimed me as her dependent. I will soon be filling out my FAFSA and am unsure about my situation. While my dad will be claiming me as his dependent, I live with my mother. I noticed on a lot of college websites I have checked out, they say that I must use the financial info of my custodial parent. I am so confused. I don't want to mess up my FAFSA and risk getting any financial aid. If my dad intends on claiming me on his taxes, how can I use my mother's financial info on FAFSA. What do I do? Who's info do I use? I am a transfer student applying for the fall 2011 semester.

Who claims you doesn’t matter, the custodial parent is the one you spend most time with. If it 's 50/50, it’s the higher earner.

Yes…

But, if the dad continues to provide money to the D (for education or whatever) that needs to be included on FAFSA.
