Hi!
My non custodial parents is not helping at all!!! I asked her to fill out the form since nov-dec I remember her every week and still she doesnt care, she says she wont pay the 25$ bucks so I offered to do so, well still!! she says she is to busy to sit down and get her numbers straight.

When people say such things there usually is something else going on. Perhaps she feels that doing the CSS will require her to contribute towards your college costs and she won’t/can’t do that.

has she said how much she’ll contribute?

your schools will not process your FA unless she does the paperwork. If your dad can’t pay all the costs to go to these schools that require her info, then you’re going to have a problem. Schools won’t overlook this issue.

Frankly, since your mom has delayed, this may be hurting your chances for aid.

Did you apply to any schools that don’t require her info?

Do you know how to do it? It may be an intimidating thing for your mom - I know many people who get that “deer in the headlights” look when it comes to filling out taxes and FAFSA, though it’s really not that hard when you actually take time to learn/follow the steps. If you let her know exactly what you need and offer to sit down at the computer and fill it out for her then you may make some headway. Explain to her that no one will or can require her to pay for your education but without her information the schools can’t give you institutional aid.

Does your mom have a spouse that maybe doesn’t want to provide info?

Does your mom have a good income and can’t contribute? If so, maybe she thinks that this is a worthless exercise because the “family contribution” will be too high and it won’t get paid.

If your mom’s income is lowish and she doesn’t have a spouse, offer to help her do it over the phone.

I agree with Sk8trmom that no one can force anyone to pay, however, there are parents that don’t want to go thru this process and feel a sense of obligation when the EFC comes out high.
