<p>If you’re referring to FAFSA, then no…parents who are separated from their spouses are treated as single for FAFSA. If they filed, or will file, a joint tax return for the year then you’ll have to have dad separate out his income, deductions, etc. for FAFSA. Of course, he’ll report only his portion of any joint assets they have.</p>
