I just sent in my deposit. I'll be in Eberly/Schreyer.
According to all my friends there now, there's plenty to do if you don't drink.
Check out the PSU Student Life website for stuff like LateNightPennState and the like.

The next four years will be AMAZING.

Me most likely. Although I think it'll be hard to ignore rowdy drunk people, there should be plenty to do after reading that topic that has a full list of things to do. LateNite seems to be very much appealing.

If one is idle or bored @ PSU, be he/she sober, loaded, or otherwise, well that's a personal choice not made for lack of opportunities. They abound in virtually every corner of campus and across College Ave. Unless one must have a subway ride vs. a sandwich. The key is finding a group there that nurtures and/or embraces the possibility that one need not be plowed to enjoy the weekend. Always room for designated drivers. This notion of drunkeness = 100% of PSU is baloney. And mostly adolescent insecurity. 'Tis merely the obnoxious plastered minority few who garner the majority of attention. Unfortunately, on a campus with as many adolescents as Moo U., well even that minority can be very vocal and visible.

I'll be in college of engineering.

i don't drink either
I don't plan to. It also helps that im a hardcore student.

Eberly-Premedicine

Cool guys! It's nice to see a few of us here! I'm comming from Hong Kong, and I will be in Smeal School of Business!

There are a lot more nondrinkers than you'd expect at Penn State. It's just that the majority drink and they tend to be louder when drunk. lol

i have a lot of friends who drink and don't here at main campus. just like everyone said, it's a choice. there is a lot to do on the weekends. you can go to the movies, late night, or even go to parties and don't drink. but if the frats aren't your scene there is so much to do at happy valley. if you have any questions please ask me, im a freshman here.

Has anyone considered living in LIFE House, the non-drinking housing option?
I don't really know anything about it but I was thinking I might want to try it out. Have you heard anything about it?

i know that you have to sign a contract saying you will not be caught drinking or doing any type of drugs. my friend is going to the floor next year. from what i heard it is a really close knit floor.

What about drug use on campus? I know drinking is big but what about drugs?

I just finished reading my housing contract. Alcohol is obviously OK if you're over 21, but if you're even IN THE SAME ROOM as someone using drugs/drugs in general, it is a disciplinary issue and a violation of the contract. From what I've heard, other drugs exist, but aren't that available unless you search for them... which none of us should be doing anyway.

When you say being in a room with drinking or drugs is a disciplinary issue, do you mean only while in the LIFE house, or can you be disciplined for being at a party in another dorm where there is drinking and drug use?
