I was accepted to Mount Holyoke for January 2011, and I would like to take some classes at Stony Brook during the fall (particularly Russian!). I searched Stony Brook's website for information about applying as a non-matriculating student, but I only found a little bit of information telling me to request an application from the Dean of Admissions. I just e-mailed Stony Brook about requesting an app, but I have no idea when they'll get back to me. As of now, I am still unsure if I will persue this option (still waiting on Smith's waitlist), but I love having options. Does anyone here have any information on non-degree students, particularly applying/registering/fees? Thanks!

We do not typically allow students to take courses as a non-matriculated student during the fall and spring semesters; summer and winter, yes, but not during the regular semester.
