Obviously JHU is known for its pre-med and engineering programs but how good is it for majors in the humanities, such as English or History?

JHU is home to some of the best writing and IR programs in the world.

Search the past forums -- there are SOOOOO many posts about how "good" the non-science majors are at Hopkins. This question seems to be posted every month.

Also, check out Hopkins Interactive for a ton of information about the "lesser known" programs that are equally if not stronger than the science majors: http://apply.jhu.edu/hi

I heard a rumor that JHU wants history/polisci types to make themselves known as not only a good science/pre-med school. True/false?

False...

Political Science was actually founded at Johns Hopkins. Don't believe me...
"Herbert Baxter Adams is credited with coining the phrase "political science" while teaching history at Johns Hopkins University."
From Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_Science

Political Science and History are both in the top 10 most popular majors at Hopkins.

We are always looking to build the Humanities and Social Sciences at Hopkins, but not by weakening our standards. To build these programs we focus on adjusting our recruitment activities, not our admissions activities.
