I'm planning to apply next fall to Berkeley and am a nonresident living in Pennsylvania. I wanted to know about the a-g course requirements for nonresidents specifically the visual performing arts which I don't think I meet though I meet and exceed all the others. Also, how do I calculate my uc gpa?

You don’t have to calculate the UC GPA, it will be done for you as part of the application.

You are asked to enter all your courses in categories a thru g, as well as a ‘normalized’ grade and whether it is an honors or AP course. Normalized means that it is adjusted to letter grades A-F and any + or - is dropped. Courses that don’t qualify as a-g are ignored (e.g. PE). The UC GPA is calculated from the plain letter grades for the a-g courses, ignoring freshmen year, then adding in up to 8 semester-units of credit for honors or AP courses.

Thank you that makes a lot of sense now. Though if I have only taken two semester long visual and performing arts classes(one on senior year) is that ok? What if I am a nonresident and have not taken a year log approved visual and performing arts course as stated in the requirements.

it just needs to be two semester courses in the same art area.

If I knew the definitive answer about nonresident applicants and the arts requirement, I would post it.
