Has anyone received notification of the OOS merit awards yet for those in states without reciprocity, such as the National Scholarship?
If so, please comment on when/how you received it and ideally the amount of the award and your Major/ACT/GPA if you are willing to share. Thanks!
I searched a bit but didn’t see any obvious reports from this year yet. Based on previous year threads it seems like some should have received notices already or very soon. Also, does anyone know for sure if National Scholarships continue to be awarded into Jan-Mar for the first deadline applicants? Or is it pretty unlikely that a first deadline applicant will receive merit aid if it doesn’t arrive by December?
Any information about past thresholds would be great- is 32ACT/4.3W and plenty of strong EC and leadership enough to qualify for any merit in Carlson? We will have Indiana residency if it matters.
What is your UW GPA? If your school doesn’t provide that, it’s easy to calculate on the 4.0 scale using A=4, A=3.67, B+=3.33, B=3 etc. Weigh each value by the class credit (most will likely be 1 credit or equivalent) and then divide the total by the number of credits.
My OOS (California) S18 was offered $10K/year from UMN. He got a letter in the mail before Thanksgiving. His information is in previous posts if you want to check it out. Good luck!
@pickledginger Congrats to your son! Curious…was he notified of the scholarship via the app tracker, email or snail mail? Haven’t heard how U of Minn notifies applicants of that. Thanks.
Anyone with similar stats receive a notification recently, for any major? Anyone know if UMN will consider other Big Ten offers in regard to merit aid when it gets to April/May negotiating period?
@SDunham our S18 has 4.5 W/3.9 UW GPA top 5% of class of 500; with 1560 SAT and 35 ACT, varsity athlete, Eagle Scout, decent ECs - he was accepted in Nov to CoE but nothing in terms of merit scholarships so far.
He should be a NMF showing UMN as first choice so hopefully something will come thru. We’re OOS Illinois residents so was looking for some scholarship money to offset the OOS cost.
Good luck to your son!!! I guess it varies a lot by major
Our #2 is leaning toward Indiana business school over Minnesota now.
Even if a national scholarship offer comes, Indiana will be less expensive once we are resident tutition next year then We may have one at Indy plus #1 is at Purdue
