non school specific questions. post them here.

So I thought I'd start this thread for those of us with general (non school specific) questions about transferring. Feel free to post any questions here and people who've gone through the process can let you know.

To get started, I have a few general questions myself

1 -- When transferring, is your current GPA (used to gain acceptance to whatever school you're transferring to) averaged into the GPA at the NEW institution? Or does your GPA get a clean slate at the new school? (I'm hoping not, because my current GPA is up there).

2 -- Is it possible to erase a transfer course (marked "TR") on a transcript? I transferred a course I took in HS to my current transcript, but I don't want the new school (my potential transfers) to see, because they (naturally) will want to see the transcript from that school.

Any feedback would be great. or I'll have to call each school to find out lol.

I’m pretty sure you start off with a clean slate.

Don’t know

My new school’s transcript lists the courses and their respective credits taken at my old school. (No grades from my old school are listed).

If the school you are transferring to requires a high school transcript, admissions will see that grade anyways. If the school does not require a high school transcript, then don’t send the high school transcript.

I took a class the summer between high school and college. I didn’t initially send send the transcript to the schools I was applying to. Only one school requested a transcript for that summer class, so I sent it in later. Incidentally, I’m probably retaking that summer course again at my new school and my new school doesn’t care.

An answer to #1 may be listed on the web page of the registrar. Yes, calling the admissions office is probably your best bet.
