Hey I’m new on here and I am very interested in Air Force Academy. But I was wondering, does rowing as a non-school sport still look good when applying? It’s a rowing club and we practice 6 days a week for every season of the year. It has gotten pretty popular and we compete at regattas. Does anyone know how this looks?

Hey. I'm applying to USAFA as well. Rowing, or any other non-school sport looks great on your academy application. If it is something that you are dedicated to and is run by an organization or sanctioned it is legitimate. In my case, my only captain positions are in outside of school sports that I excel in. The academy will look at any sport the same as long as a great deal of effort has been put into that sport (6 days a week sounds pretty tough.) So go ahead and put it on the app. and good luck. Hope to see you there in USAFA c/o 2011!!

Hi guys! Good to see some more 2011 hopefuls! Anyone else roaming these boards who wants to go to USAFA should join and ask questions. :)

Any sport or extra activity outside school looks great. Put it on your resume.

okay, thanks for the responses!
