Hi all, I am currently a computer science major trying to decide on what schools I should apply to. My GPA is low (2.7) due to some mistakes in my last quarters, so I’ve been considering CSUEB, CSUC, CSUSF, CSUS, and UC Merced. Can anybody help rank these schools in terms of how good they are for my major? I’m heavily considering chico due to all of the great things I’ve read about it on another site, but I haven’t read any (current) information on it here. From other people’s comments, I’ve also read that CSUSF and CSUS have very outdated curriculum and not much support/guidance when it comes to getting internships and jobs. Are there any other schools I should be considering as well?
“CSUSF” – do you mean SFSU (San Francisco State University)?
“CSUS” – do you mean CSU Sacramento or CSU Stanislaus?
Sorry, yes. I mean SFSU and CSU Sacramento.
You should apply to all of them and make the cal after you hear back. i think your GPA will make UCM and Chico reaches. Unless you are local, Sac will be a coin-toss but, it has a solid rep. You are 100 miles from the Valley so, if you want to work down there after you graduate, a Bay Area school is probably a better idea .If you want to work in Sac, after you graduate, it is a fine choice, if you get in. East Bay and SF (IMHO your most likely admits) both have .solid programs and are surrounded by tech companies so, internships should be readily available.
