How often do or did you guys skip school during your freshman, sophomore, and junior year? And what are your usual reasons for skipping?

If I averaged up all my absences this year, I'd have to say that I skip about once a month. I skipped a lot the week before AP week, and I usually skip the Friday of SATs. Other times, I skip because I just don't feel like going to school.

Freshman/Sophomore year I hardly skipped any school. But this year, Junior year, I've been soo busy that I probably have missed a day every 1 1/2 to 2 weeks (now, a lot of these were because I had to take certain tests at my local CC which conflicted with HS).

I'm not too worried about the huge amount of absences since I kept my grades up. I'm just trying to not let it follow me to senior year, heh.

OMG. I couldn't agree more. Straight from a senior signature in my yearbook:

"I've really thought of you as a senior because you have been in almost all my classes & you have the worst case of senioritis I've ever seen! . . . . .
(near the end: )
...& yes, you really should try coming to school every once in a while!"

Okay, and that's only 1, numerous references to the time I took a cab to skip a quiz. Even my chem teacher:

"I'm going to remember you for ... and for that "cab" thing. You're a great student and I'll miss you!"

I swear, everytime I'm in the room, she brings it up and everyone laughs. But it's all good . . yeah school is so useless . . especially nowadays as it's coming to a close. I think I'm one of the few from my high school that can maintain rank 1 and miss as many days as I have . . very few times have I come an entire week the 2nd semester . . and I influence others to do the same mishievious smile =p

I have missed classes a total of 10 times since 6th grade!

Eighth grade I missed one day for a Confirmation retreat and one day for a regional track meet.

Freshman year I missed one day for a computer club competition.

Sophomore year I missed one day for a computer club field trip. Also, one day for Red Ribbon week and two days setting up for 'Mock' with Lifesavers.

Junior year I missed one day for Red Ribbon week and one day working with the Renaissance Student Steering Committee Academic Assembly. Finally, I missed part of one day taking the ASVAB test.

Lucky for me none of those absences have counted against my Perfect Attendance record.

This senior girl got an award today for 13 years perfect attendance since 1993 but probably because she sucks up so much. . she checks in for like 5 minutes, they mark her as "present" and then she leaves. real accomplishment

Hahaha, when I looked at the title, I thought: Sarorah.

I've always maintained perfect attendance since fifth grade... until this year. I blew it on March 7th. I wasn't able to finish my work, so I skipped. I've only skipped school twice. The other day was the day before Spring Break. I only had two classes, and I just thought that it wasn't worth my time going to school. I had an in-class essay that I didn't prepare for anyway, so I guess I had my reasons.

I've never skipped until this year. I've had so much work or I was too tired to go. I missed a TON of days near APs. I didn't skip though...I just had exams, so that's not too bad.

I skip school occasionally, but mostly I skip individual classes. Usually I claim that I have a chorus sectional, and then I go to the library or the cafeteria. I try to build up a reputation of being hardworking and honest, so teachers don't doubt that I'm really just cutting class.

I've forged a few doctors notes, of course. Sometimes I go out for coffee with a friend, the weeks before APs I go to the town library and study.

I didn't skip much in 9th or 10th, but as a junior with a car, I skip a lot more. I skip my 9th period (French) so much that I've taken to writing down 'free' as my reason for signing out of school. It's not like they check.

I usually just skip if I know we're not doing anything, or I really need a mental health break. I don't skip if I haven't done my work-- I just get my work done on time.

I myteriously fall violently ill sometimes..usually if my friend is visiting from Seattle, I don't feel like coming to school, or I haven't done any homework. I'm good about making up work, though, so it doesn't really matter.

I think perfect attendance is kind of an unfortunate thing to strive for. There's definitely more to life than classes because school isn't just academic.
