Non-Sequential Language Credits?

If someone looked at my transcript, they’d see me in Spanish I in my sophomore year and then IB Spanish III in junior year.

I transferred from a school the summer before my sophomore year that didn’t offer foreign language to freshmen, but when I moved to my IB school in Florida, it was required. I was placed into their freshman Spanish class–which I did well in–and then was told to complete an online course the summer before junior year to get my Spanish II credit. The thing is, I eventually dropped the course before I completed it once the school year started.

I’m still a junior, and I will be taking SL Spanish next year (so those two years will be sequential), but how will colleges look at that jump from Spanish I to III? I would talk to my guidance counselor first, but it can be difficult to get in touch with them due to their busy schedule.

No one will care how you prepared for Spanish III.

For most practical purposes, the highest level completed is what matters when colleges look at your foreign language course work.

For Foreign language what matters is Evel reached so it’ll be considered level 3.

Just make sure you are ready for the spanish you are taking
