i know. Luckily, he had A&M as his first choice and loves the engineering school there. but, I have to say that I’m stunned he wasn’t admitted to UT - just to have another option. I think he may be a great example of the top ten % rule run wild. but, I’m very happy for those who are dying to go to UT and got in. Congratulations to you all. At least, you are all getting the facts. best of luck to all.

Oh… my god!!!

i got in!!!

i got accepted to GeoSciences school!!! yooohooooooo~~~

i checked it 5 minutes ago.
it has been a great honor to share info about getting into UT.

because i really worried about my stat and not being top 10%,
right now, this moment of ecstacy makes me so crazy.

my stat:
56/352(~16%)
ACT 28
SAT 1860(1250)

Thank you , everybody!!!

HOW the ****??? BrianShin!!!

You got in with:
56/352(~16%)
ACT 28
SAT 1860(1250)

When I didn’t get in with ~17% and a 1410/2020?
I was dying to go to UT, I’m the outcast now among my friends. Great luck you got there ****** BrianShin, congrats.

wow…so the school you apply to really does matter…but don’t they consider you for undergraduate study as your 3rd major?

Oh, my mistake…
SAT 1960, not 1860

THANK YOU, @user3725.
Yea… i think it really depends on the major you apply.

Good luck everybody.

thats more like it…haha

I still havent got my decision … damn … !!

I’m in the top 12 % with a 32 ACT and a girl and I got into engineering! yayayayayay!

electrical engineering!

What the eff. You have been admitted to your first-choice major in the Cockrell School Of Engineering ( Electrical Engineering ) at UT Austin.

I’m top 11% (93 out of 800 somin) with a 1940 SAT. Cool.

DP

I got CAPed…

first choice business, second general studies

1340/2020 SAT, class rank 36/289 (12.4%)…

A&M for me! =)

CAP’d with a 2060(1360) SAT, class rank of 94/613 (~15%)
1st choice business, 2nd choice liberal arts
■■■.

Accepted to Geosciences (2nd choice behind RTF)!!!

SAT: Critical Reading - 740, Math - 570, Writing - 680

Guess the essays (I was told by many people they were GREAT) and what school you apply to REAAAAAAALLY makes a difference.

I’m so ridiculously happy. THANK YOU UT ADMISSION PEOPLE

congrats everyone who was accepted! and my condolences to those who got capped–from what i’ve been seeing, it’s definitely not because you were underqualified. it’s because of that top 10% rule ):

and regarding major, i’m pretty sure that it does depend on what school you apply to for better chances. i read somewhere that if you’re not top 10% and want a better chance on getting in, do not apply to engineering, do not apply to RTF, do not apply to architecture, and definitely do not apply for business. that’s what i read at least D: i forgot where so idk if it’s credible or not, but stuff like geosciences, obscure science majors, social work, fine arts (but you need to audition/send a portfolio), are most likely not as competitive.

■■■ Capped with a 1500/1600 SAT and top 15%
I HATE MY LIFE
:(

kid at school had the following stats

football (only EC)
500 reading
500 writing
800 math

1 on English Lang. AP Test
decent essays (wrote them on jan 14th at 11 p.m. and finished at 11:10 p.m.)

got into engineering school

25th percentile

andy09, u got CAPed with 1500/1600 SAT? damn

Ret was he a minority by any chance? Or is he playin football?

hes asian

and hes not playing football

Ret, and andy09, I guess this goes to show that UT is wayyyyyyyy unfair in its selection process.

GG dumb*** schooling system, THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS. Admit kids who are obviously less qualified than most of us, and who definitely don’t care enough to go to Austin.
