Every college essay that I come across in examples, or discussion always seems to be an experience, an anecdote that is personal. My essay is not an experience, but rather my "world view" and how I perceive the world and later how that relates into be going to college. I mean I think it is good that I am sharing my thoughts, but I am worried since it isn't an experience like every single college essay I have seen.

Do you think the essay should be an experience, or do you think mine would be okay and impress the adcoms?

If it’s a great essay, it’s a great essayyou shouldn’t be worried about the topic, but about what you’ve actually written.

In my opinion, though, writing about such a broad topic could cause you to lose focus in your essay (by trying to cover too much), could make your essay very boring or dry (with no personal anecdotes or stories), or could be seen as some pretentious crap written by a teenager who thinks he has the world all figured out.

Try to get other opinions about your essay if possible. Nonetheless, if the essay you’ve written reveals a good deal your personality and interests, and is interesting and well-written, you have nothing to fear by being “non-traditional.”
