Non-traditional student

Hi guys,

I'm a 31 year old community college student. I have an Associates degree in Philosophy with a GPA of 3.0 in the philosophy major and an overall GPA of 2.8. I'm married with two kids. I returned to school when I was 26 years old and i have worked throughout my entire time in school, which is the excuse of why my GPA is so low. I was diagnose with cancer in 2007 and have been under tremendous stress while, working, going to school and managing my kids and marriage. I want to transfer to a UC school, but i'm embarrassed to apply to a UC school because my GPA is so low. Since I have a AA degree in philosophy, i would like to continue and get a B.A. in philosophy. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
